Cine is a classic Italian restaurant in the heart of the Entertainment Quarter that caters to the hordes of hungry folk who swarm the precinct each night, intent on filling their bellies before taking in a movie, show or spot of ten pin bowling. Luckily it is a large venue which seats more than 350 people and can do up 1000 covers a night when it’s busy. It’s stylishly decked out with black and white chairs and tables and inviting chocolatey-brown banquettes lining the walls. Fold-back doors open onto the outdoor area which has views of the EQ markets three days a week.
The menu is typically Italian and includes woodfired pizzas, pastas, risottos, salads and meat dishes done with care and imagination. Start with a classic entree of tomato bruschetta or octopus salad. If you feel like pizza, the Sicilian is a good option with mozzarella, salami, black olives, tomato and jalapeno peppers. Pasta-lovers will appreciate the linguine gamberesi with tiger prawns, zucchini and cherry tomatoes flamed with white wine and tossed in basil pesto. Otherwise opt for the vitello medaglione: grilled milk-fed veal back strap served on sun-dried tomato risotto with beetroot puree and topped with sweet potato crisps.
