Bacchus is an elegant restaurant reminiscent of the Victorian era's grace and charm right in the heart of Newcastle. Set in a historic building complete with stunning chandeliers, leather chaise lounges and red velvet curtains, guests can either dine in the restaurant a la carte or relax in the lounge and order from an extensive tapas menu until late. Bacchus has an enormous wine cellar and impressive cocktail list which in the winter months can be sampled in front of open fireplaces.

When you walk through the doors at bacchus, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of 1920's glamour. The red velvet drapes, the leather chaise lounges, the gilded mirrors, and the exquisite furnishings, all prime your senses for a dining sensation. The converted theatre is a dramatic setting for a meal, to say the least.
The food is divine, the cocktails are exceptional. The one disappointment I experienced was the service. Slow and inattentive. Very frustrating. It detracted from an evening of bliss.
Still an excellent restaurant that I would recommend.
