Apres Restaurant is the latest venture for David and Meredith Poirier (La Grand Bouffe, Rozelle) and Josh Renshaw who have brought a piece of France to Potts Point. At Apres you will experience exceptional French cuisine framed by the luxury and elegance of the Art Deco period of the 50's, with an intimate interior that has retained all the charm and character along with slinky booth and banquette seating, softly toned walls and dark timber panelling.

Enchante! Apres is so distinctively French you’ll be racking your memory through your high school French class for words that are fitting for this dining experience. Decorated in a sultry Parisian style with plush red booths and boldly striped wall paper, you’ll be transported to the bridges and banks of the Seine River. Mind you, it helps that all the rather dashing waiters are fluent in the language of love; however, it will be the food that you will be falling head over heels for after an evening at Apres.

Upon entering, you will be escorted to the bar area where you can choose from a tantalising array of cocktails or, in true aperitif fashion, a glass of champagne. After you’ve ordered at your table a surprise bite-sized taste sensation is brought in the form of escargots, giving you a sneak peak into the chef’s talent. This amuse bouche is a great indication of what is to come from the simple but impressive menu. The eight-hour braised lamb shoulder served with Puy lentils and walnuts falls away with the slightest touch of your fork while the confit duck leg with cabbage and lardons is succulent and tender. If you would prefer someone to decide upon your culinary journey for you, choose the three course set menu for $60 per person; a terrific way to sample a range of Frenchie goodness. Chocolate and Cointreau tart with orange and Grand Marnier ice-cream closes with decadent style. With its cosy yet elegant ambience, Apres will have you returning to Potts Point for the sheer pleasure of a Parisian dinner date.

LOCATION
In a quiet street, off Macleay Street, Potts Point, five minutes from the CBD.

DETAILS
Apres Restaurant is located in the historical building that hosted the famous Roosevelt Club in the 1940’s at 32 Orwell Street, Potts Point. Apres unique history and stunning interior sets it apart from other Sydney restaurants being located in a beautiful Art Deco building that housed a radio station in the 50’s; prior to that is was The Roosevelt Club, a venue with a reputation for attracting visiting celebrities such as Frank Sinatra in the 60’s and 70’s. Rumour has it that Apres former incarnation was Ole Blue Eyes’ favourite restaurant in Sydney.

Now this restaurant has risen again to its former glory recently reopened as Apres Restaurant by Meredith and David Poirier who have already carved an excellent reputation at their restaurant La Grand Bouffe in Rozelle. The Art Deco movement inspired by the French, was a lavish and opulent response to the austerity of World War I. Complementing a fabulous era of jazz and dancing, the architecture of the time did away with the formal frills and fancies of the generations that had come before it, focusing instead on streamlined designs modelled on modernisation and aerodynamics. At Apres you will experience exceptional French cuisine framed by the luxury and elegance of this period.
