It only costs two dollars to bridge the gap between the community and the homeless – and all you have to do is go out for dinner. That hardly sounds like a chore now does it, and yet it will help many that are less fortunate than you (you, who can afford to go out for dinner!). For the six weeks that lead up to Christmas, StreetSmart has joined forces with restaurants all around Australia for this donation scheme. These restaurants, upon presenting the bill, will ask diners to add two dollars or more to the total, all of which will go towards the program which helps the 100,000 Australians who don’t have a place to sleep at night.
So, get a group of friends and family together and head to one of the participating restaurants for a fabulous meal – after which, dig deep into those pockets to see what you and your gang can contribute to this worthy cause. The list of eateries that are taking part in the scheme includes some of the hottest venues in town; simply visit www.streetsmartaustralia.org to pick your favourite and make a night of it.
StreetSmart guarantees that 100% of all donations are distributed directly to charity recipients so you know your coin will be used appropriately. StreetSmart has been assisting grassroot community organisations that help the homeless since 2003 and have since raised and distributed $480,000.
